Writing is a wonderful thing isn’t it? Being able to share your thoughts with the world, allowing the reader an intimate connection with what is going on inside your head. It is sad to think that not everyone is able to do this, that some are unable to look upon the world with such open minds, people who can understand people and actions.

I may only have been writing (properly) for a mere six months but I feel already that I have evolved into a writer and that it is the right path for me. I am able to look upon the world around me and allow to influence the things I write.

I would like to say that Deviant Art is a great idea and just the thing for aspiring and professional artists or writers to get into. I think that writers and artists should believe they elitist, they should talk to others and be prepared to share their art openly with the world without hiding it behind hefty price tags. This is a philosophy I shall continue into my career. Of course my more serious and longer projects would be published and come with a price but that would only ensure the freedom for me to write for the world, openly.

I want to go with a bang, after having achieved something and after sharing my angle on life. I wish to do this through lectures, novels, poetry and collaboration with other writers. The world of writing should not be hindered by publishers who want to find that next big seller.

I labeled this one in case I ever get round to continuing this subject, but don't hold me to it.

You still aren't writing properly.

Don't write unless you have a point, and for God's sake, don't post news that isn't newsworthy. Head to the forums.

Writing is not wonderful. It pains me.

I am elitist.

You are wrong.

Thankyou for your advice most of which I will follow, though I would not agree with you believing I am arrogant. I think it is merely my choice of words there that has mislead you. More of my work will become available once I get round to putting them up.

As a publisher of a small press literary journal I find the "editorial" to be conflicted and a bit naive. Were I to recieve this as an editorial it would be rejected outright with the following comments:
1) Refine your thoughts
a) The editorial, while short, is confusing. What are you driving at and why would a person who is not a writer pick up a pen after reading this?
2) Drop the pretense that you write with "professional quality"
a) In this editorial and your works available here you make statements that lead suspecting people to wonder if you have to announce that you are a professional writer are you afraid that you are not one? I do agree that a level of arrogance is needed when pursuing a life of art (I.E Frank Lloyd Wright and statements made by him along the lines of "Truth Against the World") but when an artist, a writer in specific, says they write with a "professional quality" while only giving two examples I become quite suspect that there is more than the neccessary arrogance at work. While the writing community here on DeviantArt and in the world-at-large can be very supportive I have seen people make statements such as yours and then recieve the cruelest criticsm when their work does not support the claim.
3) Stop writing about writing and focus on your writing itself
a) I do not believe that from what you have made available here on DeviantArt that you can make accurate editorial statements on the world of writing. You can make personal statements however an editorial is not in the catagory of personal statement. I have read countless books, articles and editorials by wrtiters on writing and if they succeed at all they do so in presenting ideas that have been honed by working within the craft not by making presumptuous statements prematurely.

Whille the above commentary may seem cruel at worst and harsh at best I do sincerely hope that with time and effort you become a professional writer. DeviantArt is a community where a person such as yourself can thrive but do not limit yourself to only DeviantArt, go out and take classes where feedback is given freely by peers who you can look in the eye. Submit copious amounts of your writing to every journal that you can and work harder than you think you can on honing your craft.

You are right, to become a good writer you must develop your own style, an adequate understanding of the language including its structuring. With a bank of vocabulary and these key grammatical skills under belt then you're on your way to writing. This then leads on to sharing your work openly so that all can see it, and then improve it if the comments lean that way.

I'll probably write an article covering what's just been said, perhaps a tad deeper.
